Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. January 7, 2020

President Darrell Amato called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

35 members were present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A moment of silence was observed for Fallen, Past and Current Military Personnel and First Responders.

Secretary’s Report: Sue Severs was absent and Michelle Ingersoll took the minutes notes. Thank you Michelle! The minutes will only be posted to the website. A motion to accept the December minutes as submitted was made by John Severs and seconded by Carol Mathias. Motion carried.

Treasurer Report: Shirley Schneider is the new Treasurer and passed a current Club’s balance sheet around the room. Credits were Interest, 2020 Banquet, Membership fees and Diner Books. Debits were Diner Books, Transfer Diner Book Profit to Charity Account and Annual Banquet Deposit for Catering. Charity: Credits were 50/50 and No Name Tags/Birthdays/Anniversaries and the Transfer from Diner Books. Debits were Shriners Hospital for Children’s Fund, Memorial Tyson Zellaha and Toys for Tots. A motion to accept Treasurers’ report was made by Roger Miller and seconded by John Severs. Motion carried. A motion to pay Diner Book payment made by Don VanDeWoestyne and seconded by Bill Morrissey. Motion carried. A motion to pay NCCC fees made by Bill Ingersoll and seconded by Bill Morrissey. Motion carried. A motion to move some money from General Account to Charity Account made by Carol Mathias and seconded by Don VanDeWoestyne. Motion Carried.

Governor’s Report: Al Fiscus reported that Dale Samuelson will do the timing for the Low Speed Event which is scheduled for August 16th. The Spring Ralley is scheduled for April 19th. A motion to pay the Armory Fee made by Bob Hebestreit and seconded by Randy Carlz. Motion carried. Check out our own Club website for things going on, all are listed on the calendar.

Membership: Gale Brown reported we have 100 members with 14 being Lifetime (which will appear in Italics on the membership list). New Corvette: Donna Jochim has a 2019 Elkhart Lake Blue Grand Sport Convertible. Membership lists will be updated. If you have any changes let Gale Brown know.

Social: Jean Amato heads up Social this year. Check the website calendar! January 18th Awards Banquet at The Conservancy Lodge Milan, Cocktails at 5(bring your own), Catered Dinner at 6 (carved sirloin of beef, roast pork au jus, baked cod, green bean almandine, parsley potatoes, pasta salad, mixed greens salad, broccoli salad, potato salad and dessert). January 22nd coffee/breakfast at the
Windmill Restaurant in East Moline 9 am. February 9th Tin Can Dinner at the Iowa Machine Shed 5:30 pm. February 19th Coffee/breakfast at Ross’s Restaurant in Bettendorf 9 am.

Speed: Butch Thomsen heads up Speed this year. Pencil in April 19, 2020 for Spring Rallye. Butch is looking for 3-4 people to be on Ralley committee and will be looking for volunteers to help out. Low Speed Auto Cross is August 16th.

Communications: Denny Waddell talked about using the full year 2020 when dating and signing items this year. If you are not getting regular emails contact Denny.

Charity: Sherri Brown noted Winners of 50/50 were Gale Brown and Darrell Amato who both donated winnings back to charity. Discussed losing 50/50 tickets for Banquet. Decided that each person will get 1 ticket at the door for any drawings.

Webmaster: Please use the website. If you have any questions contact Chuck Hersey. You should all be getting emails on a regular basis. There have been a number of people checking the website from all around the world and 2 were from Sweden.

Car Show: Roger Miller will be doing this for the year. Links on website! Publicity: Jean Amato. No report.

Parade: The general feeling of the membership was that we do not need a chairperson for this position. No one knew of any upcoming parades.

Quartermaster: Kathy Ragona. No orders will be taken at the meetings as it is all online on the website now. If you have any problems contact Kathy and she will help you through it.

Historian: Waldo Arnholz. If you have photos from the last 10 years of Club events Waldo would appreciate it if you could share them as he is working on compiling photos for the 60th Anniversary party. He can give you a thumb drive to put them on for him.

Sunshine: Sharon Morrissey heads up Sunshine and asks that you contact her with any information. January Birthdays and Anniversaries were noted. Gale Brown’s sister passed away and Diane Mayne’s mother passed away.

Old Business: Holiday/Awards Banquet will be held January 18th at the Conservancy in Milan. Non alcoholic beverages will be served but you can bring your own alcohol. A motion for a budget for the Banquet was made by Greg Crouch and seconded by Gary Schneider. Motion carried. A Remote
Controlled Corvette (worth $94) will be raffled. 60th Anniversary committee will be meeting soon to begin preparations and a Remote Controlled Corvette will be raffled at this event as well.

New Business: Darrell talked about the Constitution and By-Laws discussing a change for the date Club Dues are due by, change from October to September. This gives time for the money to get sent in and eliminating the prorating of dues altogether and just having the set fee all year. Asked members to help clean up the meeting room and all were invited to City Limits. Motion to adjourn made by Randy Carlz and seconded by Bob Hebestreit. Meeting adjourned at 8:08 pm.
