President Darrell Amato called the meeting to order at 6:58 p.m.
44 members and 1 guest were present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A moment of silence was observed for all Veterans, Fallen, Past and Current Military Personnel and First Responders.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes will only be posted to the website. Motion to accept the August Minutes as submitted was made by Don VanDeWoestyne and seconded by Butch Thomsen. Motion carried.
Treasurers’ Report: Sherri Brown passed around a current Club’s balance sheet for members to see. Credits were (Business Checking): Anniversary dinners, Low Speed, Membership Dues & Renewals, ATM Refund, NSF Fee Refund, Transfer From Money Market and Interest. Debits were: Transfer to Money Market, Reimbursements for Overpayments, Expenses and Frames, B & B Drain Tech and NSF. Credits were (Money Market): Transfer from Business Checking, Anniversary dinners, Membership Dues & Renewals, Low Speed and Dividend. Debits were: Transfers to Business Checking. Charity: Credits were: 50/50, No Name Tags, Birthdays and Anniversaries, Kathy’s Face Masks. Debits were: None. Savings Account Main and Charity: Interest. A motion to move the lump sum from Money Market(and close) back into Main Business Checking Account to simplify things for Treasurer(now and future) made by Carol Mathias and seconded by Melissa Thorngren. Motion carried. Motion to accept Treasurer Report made by Carol Mathias and seconded by Linda Thomsen. Motion carried.
Governor’s Report: Al Fiscus talked about the Low Speed event, Thanked everyone for the help. Drive Out on the 12th going to Galesburg, a car show with a lunch ($ donation of your choosing). Champaign IL is holding a fund raiser Oct 17,18 and 19 (Rantoul). Al has information on that if interested.
Membership: Gale Brown reported that we have 117 members. Visitor was Quint Early who owns a 2017 Sterling Blue Grand Sport. Newest members are Chuck and Ethan Ellis. If you have a lost or damaged, need a name change on your Club Name Tag let Gale know and he will get you a new one. If you have changes (car, plates, address, phone, etc.) let Gale know so he can get the information corrected. Updated list is on the website.
Social: Jean Amato. Sept. 12 Galesburg Drive meets SE corner parking lot of South Park Mall (near Denny’s) 9:30 am, driver meeting 9:45 am, depart 10 am. Sept. 15 Coffee/Breakfast Windmill Family Restaurant 1190 Avenue of the Cities East Moline IL. 9 am. Sept. 26 MWCC 60th Anniversary Celebration at Camden Center 2701 1st Street East Milan IL. starting at Noon. Oct. 8,9 and 10 Fall Color Run Wisconsin (Bill and Michelle Ingersoll taking lead) so far 10-11 cars going. Oct. 9 Open Drive meets at Hardee’s Eldridge 9:30 am, driver meeting 9:45 am, depart 10 am. We welcome and encourage all members to take an active role to plan and lead at least 1 drive out this year. Thank You’s to Al and Denny for leading the Drive Outs last month, Butch on the Low Speed (and volunteers) and Jim on the Parade.
Speed: Butch Thomsen discussed Low Speed, 25 participants, great feed back on the track course and running smoothly, Thanked volunteers. Bryanna (Deanna and Bryan Glossop’s granddaughter) loved trying it out and had a wonderful time.
Communications: Rick Sherman heads communications.
Charity: Donna Jochim. 50/50 winners were Bob Hebestreit(donated back) and Russ Bentley. Carl Burney has purchased some Jeff Gorden’s Corvette tickets and will offer some to Club members at the October meeting for $5 each with that money going directly into the Club Charity. The Pie/Ice Cream was by donation, the money going directly to Charity. Thank you Jeff Olsen for the pies, Gale/Sherri Brown and Donna Jochim for the Ice Cream and table service.
Webmaster: Please use the website. If you have any questions contact Chuck Hersey. You should all be getting emails on a regular basis. 60th Anniversary postcard and flier posted to website, fill out the flier for reservations. Is there a difference in decades and years? Ask Chuck, he’ll answer you(wink)!
Car Show: Roger Miller was absent. Links on website! If you know of any local car shows, let Roger know.
Publicity: Jean Amato. 2 weeks prior to 60th Anniversary an announcement in the community section of the Argus and QC Times will run. Blue Bars is behind and our photo and article (written by Denny Waddell’s daughter) will appear in the February 2022 (Winter issue) with a back cover photo.
Parade: Jim Scranton heads parades.
Quartermaster: Kathy Nelson was absent. If you want a shirt for the 60th Anniversary, you can place your order online on the website under the apparel button. These shirts are to be worn by us at the 60th Anniversary Celebration. Shirts that were pre ordered were available to pick up a the the meeting. Thank You Donna Jochim for getting them so we could pick them up. No orders will be taken at the meetings as it is all online on the website now. If you have any problems contact Kathy and she will help you through it. Clothing tab is now on the main page of the website, no password needed to access.
Historian: Waldo Arnholz was absent. Booklet for the 60th Anniversary has been sent to the printer.
Sunshine: Linda Thomsen. 3 cards were sent out to members. September Birthdays and Anniversaries were noted. If you have knowledge of Club members, such as get-wells, deaths, births, etc. please contact Linda with the information.
Old Business: The 60th Anniversary update, close to the end, finalized plans, so far 118 people have registered, will seat 6 to a table and slide show is ready. Carl Burney will be in charge of parking. 12-3 pm registration, 1-3 pm 50/50 raffle tickets sold, 2-4 pm show and shine, 4-5 pm cocktail hour, 5 pm dinner and speakers.
New Business: October is Board of Directors nomination month! The Club Constitution describes each position and duties. Take a look at them and the member list thinking of who might fill the position of each for your choices next month. December 12th starting at 3 pm at Ericksens is the date, time and place set for the Annual Awards Dinner. Presented Gale and Sherri Brown with their 1st place award in the C6 category from Vettes on the River. This was Darrell and Jean Amato’s last meeting, they thanked everyone for their friendship. Their good news is that family members are moving back to the Quad Cities which will give them more ball games to attend! Rita Painter donated $ for Darrell and Jeans’ pie and ice cream. Rick Lemke is asking any Club member with information on estate sales to please contact him or if you know of someone dealing in estate sales. Asked members to help clean up the meeting room and enjoy City Limits again. Motion to adjourn made by Robbie Bentley and seconded by Jim Scranton. Meeting adjourned at 7:41 pm.
