Mid-West Corvettes, Inc.
June 7, 2022

Vice President Deanna Glossop called the meeting to order at 6:30pm and after the Pledge of Allegiance and moments of silence, read President Denny Waddell’s letter of resignation to the members present. This is what Denny had to say:

When I was 10 years old, I saw a Chevrolet called a Corvette. I was so impressed by its looks I learned everything available at the time about this automotive marvel. And by the year 1962, when the 327 was added I knew I’d own one someday. When I was 12 years old my neighbor brought home a Harley Davidson. Just like the Corvette, when he took me for a ride, I was hooked. At 14 I got a Sears motorbike; and at 15, I got my first Harley. It was only a 2 cycle 165cc with a top speed of 45 mph. That’s when I learned about engine modifications, and it later topped out at 65 mph. Then at age 16 a Harley Sportster showed up in my garage. Hooked for life!

It wasn’t until 1965 that I was able to buy my first Corvette, a pretty rough 1962. That was 58 years and over 40 Corvettes ago. As goes with life and age, many things change. I sold my last Harley due to a variety of reasons, including my worn-out body. All my Harley buddies quit riding and Fay warned me, “could you pick the Harley up if it fell, especially if it fell on you?” Now I’m looking at a lot of the same reasons about Corvettes.

The first thing I’ll miss is the MWC, which includes the fantastic Board of Directors, the Chairpersons and the incredible group of members we have. It was so important to Al Fiscus that his final goal after so many years in the Club, that he leave us the best ever organization. Now the time has changed for me to scale down from a lifestyle of less home space, less automotive interests, less responsibilities, less automotive costs (insurance, licensing, garaging, etc.) Sure, it’s very hard to leave all of you mid term, after going without a Corvette all last summer and the possibility of another summer without being able to drive my new one. I’ve decided it’s time to sell one last Corvette. And like we say “you came because of the Corvette, but you stayed for the people” Judge me if you will. I judged Darrell, a very best friend, for his early departure, but he had many good reasons and I hope everyone will understand my decision. It was much easier selling the Harley as I had gone from 12-18k miles per year to 300 or less. It’s going to be easier because of 2 seasons of “Corvette less” and unable to drive the new one. I missed many MWC “get togethers” and “drive outs”. Now it’s time to consider our long term goals ….. Yours Truly, Denny.

Denny has a broken back, is wearing a back brace which helps and he would be more than happy for phone calls (563-650-3235 cell and home is 309-786-5846).

Deanna has agreed to finish the term as the President and asked if any of the members present were interested in the position. No one was so in accordance with the Constitution a motion was made by John Severs and seconded by Tom Hampton for Deanna Glossop to finish the term as President. Motion carried. The Vice President spot is open and anyone interested in finishing out this term as V.P. may contact Deanna. She will help you with learning the position.
