Mid-West Corvettes, Inc.
9/1/26
President Patric Nichols called the meeting to order at 6:33PM. There were 54 members present and 0 guests. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A moment of silence was observed for all Veterans, Fallen, Past and Current Military Personnel and First Responders..
Reminder to set phones to silent, wear nametags to all Club functions and donate for Birthdays/Anniversaries/No Name Tag at the beginning of the meeting if wishing to do so. Sign-up sheets for various things are being passed around. Please look over and participate by signing up. We have vacancies in Parade, Publicity, and Photos; the Club could use your help.
Secretary’s Report: Jan Ebert – The minutes will only be posted to the website. Motion to accept the Minutes as submitted was made by John Severs and seconded by Cindy Sue Jacobson. Motion carried. (Apologies for the lateness, but we were traveling — it’s good to be retired!)
Treasurer’s Report: Carl Burney – Passed a current Club’s balance sheet around for members to see. None this month as the treasurer was out of state. Envelopes are now available for anything that we pay in cash; please use these and fill out the required info as this makes the treasurer’s job much easier and you will get credit for what you paid.
Governor’s Report: Roger Miller – “September 1, 2026 MWC Meeting Governor notes:
The next Governor’s meeting is September 12th in St. Louis. As mentioned in Deb Murphy’s September President’s Message, there will be many things to discuss, including by law changes, changes to the competition rulebook, officer elections, vote for the 2028 convention, discussing the regions and what is in the rulebook for them, membership opportunities and how to manage “special offers” in the regions and clubs.
I expect much discussion about online meetings. A survey was sent out to Governors asking if there was interest from individual clubs having online meetings. I responded that we are very fortunate that our sponsoring dealership provides us with a great place for our meetings. Many clubs meet at restaurants, VFWs and such. I feel in-person meetings are much better for interactions. Any thoughts?
A tentative 2027 Midwest Region Planning Schedule was sent to me from Bill Docherty, our Regional Competition Director. Our rally is scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 2027. Are we good with April 18th?
Our low speed is scheduled for Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11. The only issue I see with these dates is that the NCCC Convention is the next weekend, which would most likely limit the number of entrants we could potentially have sign up. As of today, it looks like August 28-29 would be available to use for our Low Speed if agreeable with you folks.
I spoke with Michael Link, Governor of the Galesburg, Glass Favorites Club, about joining our Low Speed by using 4 of their sanctions. Their club would be very agreeable since we have started doing more things with their club. I believe this could be very beneficial for both clubs. I have not spoken to Dan Wagner of Northern Rays about this, as we have used 4 of their sanctions in each of the last 3 years and would not need them for 2027. What are your thoughts?
Our 2027 Mid-West Corvettes Board of Directors election process begins at the October meeting with nominations. The election will be at the November business meeting. Please be thinking of who you would nominate for the 2027 Board of Directors at our October business meeting.
Speaking for myself, I will turn down any nominations offered me.
At the January business meeting, or as soon as possible thereafter, the President will appoint the following chairmen for 2027:
1. WEBMASTER
2. CAR SHOW CHAIRMAN
3. PUBLICITY CHAIRMAN
4. PARADE
5. QUARTERMASTER
6. HISTORIAN
7. SUNSHINE”

Thank you to Ron and Carol Mathias for reserving the shelter for the August picnic. Brian and Chris Rappel led the drive out. Jeff and Patty Bellmyer and Del Traub did set up. 50 were in attendance. Dan Rettig’s catering had great food. Charged us $10 per persons for the meat beans, pickles, buns, BBQ sauce. Jeff Olson made the pies; bought the plates, etc., chips. $50-$60 profit after paying for those expenses; goes to the general fund.

New Business: Christmas party: Awards show and banquet with ugly holiday sweater; $42 per person. If you have any decorations you’d like to loan, please let Kristin know. It’s at Lavender Crest Winery. RSVP is due by November 2026 meeting. White elephant exchange, if you want to participate; items can’t be leaking oil, can’t be live or need to be fed, please don’t give anything that’s offensive; items will need to be wrapped and will do it old school style; Terry will be the commentator on things. Ugly sweater can be for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa. There are other opportunities to win things. There will not be candy on the tables. Beverages will be available for purchase. December 13, meet at noon, eat at 1:00. There will be a raffle with 100% of the proceeds going to the winner.
Other new business: discussion about Luxe Marketing. Contract currently runs from November 10-November 9 each year. It makes sense to have it run (for this year) from November 10, 2026 – December 31, 2027, then each year from January 1 – December 31. We need to look into this as our website is outdated. It needs to be revamped. We need someone outside the Club who can work on this. We will vote on this next month and it will be under old business on the agenda. Jeff Olson will reach out to Jess and see what she can do for us.
Respectfully submitted,
Jan Ebert, Secretary
