Mid-West Corvettes, Inc. January 3, 2017

President Randy Huber called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

45 members were present and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. A minute of silence was observed for veterans, all military and law enforcement, followed by a moment of silence for members (past or present) who have passed away.

Secretary’s Report: A motion was made by Kathy Ragona and seconded by Deanna Glossop to accept the December minutes as posted. Motion carried. New secretary Sue Severs was welcomed.

Treasurer Report: Rosie Meyer passed a current club’s balance sheet around the room. Credits shown were from Membership dues, club store sales, Christmas potluck donations, VOTR late shirt sales, banquet registration and interest. Debits shown were from NCCC dues, governors meeting, Christmas potluck chicken, River Bend food pantry and transfer of funds to charity. Charity account had credits from dining book sales, transfer funds from main account and name tag penalties paid. Debits
shown were The Center, The Salvation Army, The Christian Care Center, Kings Harvest, and Bethany Home. A Thank you letter was received from Bethany Home for the donation the club made. A motion was made by Mike Alvarado and seconded by Brian Glossop to accept Treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

Governor’s Report: Mark Hermann reported that this year for a $50 investment you could be the winner of $$ or a new Corvette, same as this past year. NCCC President’s message was discussed and how NCCC is saving $$. There are also scholarships through NCCC on their website for those interested. Mark reported that of insurance claims, none have been from the competition end of club activity.

Membership: Dave Eisbrener was welcomed as new Membership director. Dave discussed our 138 members, this number has been cross checked with NCCC. Reported no new members. Noted that Don and Kathy VanDeWoestyne have a new 2017 Admiral Blue Grand Sport. Don commented on how helpful Ron’s Toy Box was in getting his new Corvette to his home in their enclosed trailer and said this is a service Ron’s Toy Box will provide for a fee to club members.

Social: New social director Marlene Negus reported on our Annual Awards Banquet
which will be held on February 4th at Steeplegate Inn beginning at 5:30. The cost is $25.00 per person with a 3 entree buffet. 25 year lifetime memberships will be acknowledged. Sharon Langel asked for help with shopping for prize gifts. Contact Sharon if interested in helping out.

Speed: Al Fiscus new Speed Director discussed the Spring Rallye which will be held April 9th. Al asked for volunteers to head up each of the 3 event categories. Sharon Langel, Marlene Negus and Mark Hermann all volunteered. Mark discussed that the club is back on track with the Low Speed event at the Mt. Joy facility. Dates proposed are September 23rd or 24th and checking on possible conflicts for those dates.

Communications: New Communication director and V.P. Jane Huber is working with Melissa Thorngren on the Constant Contact issue with a few of our members. Melissa said there is nothing else to pursue on the club’s end so each of the mchsi members can follow up individually. If you need to do this contact Jane for the information. A banner was added to the top of the website for announcements. Mike Alvarado and Randy Huber were given instructions on how to add to the calendar of events. Jane told the club we were getting low on business cards and need to order new ones.

Charity: Melissa Thorngren is the new Charity director. Fifty/Fifty winners at the meeting were Joellen Sperfslage and Mark Hermann. Melissa was heard to say … “this is intense for a retired lady”.

Webmaster: No report

Car Show: Mike Alvarado discussed a couple of upcoming events on the car show calendar. They are on the web site. Dates are January 20th- 22nd (Rod and Custom show QCCA Expo Center) and February 10th-12th (QC Regional Auto Show River Center).

Publicity: No report

Historian: No report

Parade: No report

Quartermaster: Kathy Ragona had some items sale priced for the end of year closeout. Kathy is hoping to get some new items in for spring soon.

Sunshine: Melissa Thorngren wished everyone a Happy Healthy New Year and recognized January Birthdays and Anniversaries. Nothing was sent out as we were all a healthy bunch this past month. There will be some things sent this month as Joanie Keil’s Mom passed and Susan Siedschlaw will

undergo hip replacement. Melissa discussed sugar withdrawal from the Holidays and passed around some Nips candies.

Old Business: Randy Huber asked to up the $ amount the club usually gives to subsidise the Awards Banquet as there will be several 25 year benchmark lifetime awards this year. Motion to approve made by Al Fiscus and seconded by Carol Mathias. Motion carried. Rosie Meyer thanked Randy Huber for playing the “family card” to get the club such a good rate for our Awards Banquet location.

New Business: Discussion on the Spring Drive Out. There were a couple of changes and an e-mail was sent out to members. The dates for the drive out are May 5th-7th so anyone interested in going need to make their hotel reservations. It was noted that a past member Dave Ormy passed away. Randy Huber asked that everyone help clean up the meeting room and invited all to City Limits after the meeting. Motion to adjourn made by Randy Carlz, seconded by Bud Jones. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:35.
