President Darrell Amato called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

29 members were present and 3 guests. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  A moment of silence was observed for Fallen, Past and Current Military Personnel and First Responders. Nomination papers for the Board of Directors 2021 were handed out.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes will only be posted to the website.  A motion to accept the September minutes as submitted was made by John Severs and seconded by Diane Christensen. Motion carried. 

Treasurers’  Report: Shirley Schneider passed a current Club’s balance sheet around the room. Credits were Interest and Membership Renewal Fees. Debits were NCCC (new members) and Check re-order fees.  Charity: Credits were 50/50, No Name Tags, Birthdays and Anniversaries. Debits were VVA Chapter 669. Outstanding Debit VVA Chapter 299. Motion to pay NCCC dues made by Rick Sherman and seconded by Carol Mathias. Motion carried. Motion to refund for overpayment by member made by Linda Thomsen and seconded by Tom Hampton. Motion carried. Motion to accept Treasurer report made by Tom Hampton and seconded by Diane Christensen. Motion carried. 

Governor’s Report:  Al Fiscus reported we had 40 cars show up for the 60th Anniversary photo. Thanked everyone for the drive outs that took place this year. Darrell thanked Al and Gale for all they did to put together the photo shoot and members for showing up.  Al read a Blue Bars article. Jerry Woods (the photographer) had the photo there for members to see. Members can order a photo, more information to come on that. Discussed the Club ordering a small print for the Historian and a large print for the wall at Eriksens’.  Motion made by Jim Scranton and seconded by Fay Anderson. Motion carried.

Membership: Gale Brown reported that we have 117 members. Newest members are Earnest, Brown and Ross/Keil. Visitors were Curt and Tonya Hoff who own a 2020 and 1971 corvette. If you have changes (car, plates, etc.) let Gale know so he can get the information corrected.

Social:  Jean Amato heads up Social this year. Check the website calendar!  October 10 Open Drive Out meets at former Ascentra in LeClaire 9:30 am., leaves at 10 am. October 14 Cancelled coffee at Ross’s, October 17  Drive Out to New Diggings WI. meets at Hardees in Eldridge at 8:30 am., leaves at 9 am. October 25 Cancelled drive to Tanner’s. October 24 picnic lunch at Severs back yard starts at noon, bring your lunch, drink and chair (this is replacing the Chili potluck and Sue will make a batch of chili for anyone who wishes to have some). A motion was made for the Club to donate $ as a gift for an upcoming wedding by Frank Perez and seconded by Bob Cushman. Motion carried. If anyone has ideas or would like to lead a drive out, contact Darrell and Jean.

Speed: Butch Thomsen heads up Speed this year.  No report.

Communications:  Denny Waddell discussed the turnout for the photo shoot. Thanked Michelle for the idea of square numbers, made set up easier.

Charity: Sherri Brown heads Charity.  Winners of 50/50 were Diane Christensen and Tom Markesie (who both donated it back to Charity). Darrell had a card from Rita Painter with $ to be put into Charity, some for Mike’s Birthday. Donna Jochim asked for a donation to the Sappington family of East Moline who lost everything in a fire. Motion made by Diane Christensen and seconded by Carol Mathias. Motion carried. There is a bracelet that was found after the photo shoot, if yours contact Darrell Amato.

Webmaster:  Please use the website. If you have any questions contact Chuck Hersey. You should all be getting emails on a regular basis. Chuck has agreed to remain as webmaster for 2021.

Car Show: Roger Miller was absent. No report. Links on website! If you know of any local car shows, let Roger know.  

Publicity: Jean Amato. No report.

Parade: The general feeling of the membership was that we do not need a chairperson for this position. No one knew of any upcoming parades.

Quartermaster:  Kathy Ragona was absent.  No orders will be taken at the meetings as it is all online on the website now. If you have any problems contact Kathy and she will help you through it. Clothing tab is now on main page of website, no password needed to access.

Historian: Waldo Arnholz. If you have photos from the last 10 years of Club events Waldo would appreciate it if you could share them as he is working on compiling photos for the 60th Anniversary party. He can give you a thumb drive to put them on for him. 

Sunshine: Sharon Morrissey was absent and has resigned the Sunshine position. Donna Jochim will take over for the remainder of the year. October Birthdays and Anniversaries were noted. Cards were sent to Markesie, Painter and Sherman.

Old Business: Discussion of the 60th Anniversary planned for May 2 2021 was held and members agreed that we should look to change the date to sometime in September 2021.

New Business: Board of Director nominations were held.

 President: Rick Sherman – decline, Darrell Amato – decline (but is considering).

 Vice-President: Tom Markesie – accept, John Severs – decline, Rick Sherman – accept,  Denny Waddell – decline (but will accept if Darrell accepts). 

Governor: Al Fiscus – accept, Denny Waddell – decline, John Severs – decline. Al is looking for an apprentice for the Governor position during the 2021 year.

Secretary: Sue Severs – accept.

Treasurer: Ron Mathias – decline, Shirley Schneider – decline, Bob Nelson – will call, Sherri Brown – accept, Bev Scranton – decline, Michelle Ingersoll – decline.

Speed: Butch Thomsen – accept, John Earnest – decline, Don VanDeWoestyne – will call.

Social: Sherri Brown – decline, Jean Amato – decline, Deb Alvarado – will call.

Membership: Gale Brown – accept.

Charity: Sherri Brown – decline, Donna Jochim – accept. 

Voting for the 2021 Board of Directors will be held at the next Business Meeting in November.

An End-of-Year audit will be scheduled with Ron Mathias.

November Business Meeting is moved to the 10th (second Tuesday) because of the U.S. Presidential Election on the 3rd.

Members are asked to please consider taking the Social position for the 2021 year.

 Asked members to help clean up the meeting room and all were invited to City Limits if they so chose to go. Motion to adjourn made by Ron Mathias and seconded by Tom Hampton. Meeting adjourned at 8:23 pm.
