Randy Huber

 To All Corvette Enthusiasts,

Well here we are, smack dab in the middle of our Corvette mid-driving season and we have already shared many adventures and created many, many memories. Our Sunday drive-outs have been spontaneous and diverse. Our Iowa and Illinois backroads have offered us some excellent day trips and our drive-out leaders have done an outstanding job of keeping our participants entertained. Most important, we have all returned safe except for some bugs on our cars. Both the planned and unplanned drive-outs have been great and I look forward to the remaining Sunday drives in the second half of the Corvette season.

I have heard so many great things about the Spring Drive-out and I am one of our members that regret’s missing it this year. Although the weather didn’t always cooperate with the event, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm and the spirit of the drive. A good time was had by all who attended, and they almost managed to get two of our members married!!! Now that’s what I call a party!

As first timers for this event, Jane and I did participate in the Black Hills Corvette Classic. The trip was fantastic, the roads were smooth and winding, the scenery was breathtaking, and you felt right at home with the other 1,000 Corvettes that attended. The Sherman’s and the Negus’ did our club proud as they lead our 11 Corvette contingency through the Black Hills and they hit just about every scenic hot spot you could during the 6 day drive. Hats-off to the Hermann’s for flawlessly providing our back-door coverage for our group. I know leading the group was a great responsibility, but making sure we all stay together, and that no Corvette is left behind takes a special talent… well done to the leaders and the back-door.

Looking forward, we have so much more to do, roads to challenge, and enjoy with MWC. I am trying to figure out how Jane and I can fit it all in (we don’t like missing out on the fun). We look forward to every event this club puts-on and are currently working very hard with the Core Committee to produce another successful Vettes on the River car show. As a club, this is our show… we are the hosts… and this represents our club to the other 38 Corvette clubs and independent Corvette owners across the nation. Yes, we even have Corvettes coming from Indiana, Connecticut, Florida, Arkansas as-well-as our neighboring states. Our planning and your involvement are the key to its continued success. Our participants attend and keep coming back because of each of us. They have fun, share experiences, and we make them feel welcome… pretty good formula that I believe will continue to grow the event and our membership. Take pride in that, you have earned it and it is very much deserved. If you haven’t registered, don’t miss out, if you want to volunteer, here is your chance to be a part of something truly special that only happens once a year. Corvettes and Veterans, nothing says America more than that. Register at vettesontheriver.com.

On a personal note, I am honored to be one of the many leaders of this exceptional organization. It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve as your President and a member of our Board of Directors. I have every right to be proud of this organization, but I am most proud of our driving safety performance, our charitable contributions, and the continued growth of our membership. Continue to have fun in your Corvette, make new Corvette friends, and don’t forget to wave when a Corvette passes by, they may end-up being a future MWC member.

Best regards,

Randy Huber – President – Mid-West Corvettes, Inc.
